Job summary

Hartford Hospital is seeking a skilled RN for the Neuro‑Surgical ICU on the night shift. You will monitor neuro patients, manage intracranial pressures and coordinate with the neuro‑intensivist and APNs to deliver top‑tier care.

Required CT RN license, BLS and ACLS, with at least 1 year of acute care experience. ASN/ADN considered if pursuing BSN/MSN. This role is a vital part of Hartford HealthCare’s mission and patient‑centered culture.

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut RN License.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required).
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association, ACLS certification, and proof of Arrhythmia Certification required prior to date of hire.
• Minimum one year Acute Care RN experience strongly preferred.
• In exceptional circumstances, ASN/ADN nurses currently pursuing a BSN or MSN may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside critical care in Neuro‑Surgical ICU.
• Monitor intracranial pressures and brain tissue oxygenation.
• Collaborate with Neuro‑intensivist, Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses.

The Neuro‑Surgical ICU is a 17 bed adult inpatient unit caring for critically ill Neuro-science and Neuro‑surgical patients. Our patient population consists of stroke, head and spinal cord trauma and brain hemorrhage. These patients require nurses who specialize in monitoring intracranial pressures, brain tissue oxygenation and hemo‑dynamic monitoring. RN’s in this specialty also must have a family‑centered approach because of the critical nature of our patients. We also work closely with our Neuro‑intensivist, Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses to provide the highest quality of care for our patients.
