Sentara Norfolk General Hospital's Mother-Baby Unit is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for full-time night shift to care for new moms and their infants in a 30-bed unit.

This role requires Virginia RN license, BLS within 90 days of hire, and prior Women’s Health experience is preferred. A sign-on bonus up to $20,000 is offered for qualified candidates. You will assess, educate on infant care, and work with a multidisciplinary team to support families.

Our Nurses assess, ensure that proper healing is occurring, and provide self-care education to our new Moms during the post-partum stay. The unit encourages the new Mom to room with their new baby. The Mom-Baby Nurse sees that the newborn is assessed, cleaned, fed, and swaddled, and educates the new Mom on proper infant care.**Overview**The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
