Job summary

St Mary’s Health Care System is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department in Athens, GA. This full-time position involves a 12-hour evening shift with week nights from 7p to 7a and no weekend duties, in a 25-bed ED serving a wide age range with cardiology and stroke focus.

You’ll join an interdisciplinary team delivering evidence-based, individualized patient care. The role requires GA RN licensure, an accredited nursing education program, and a recent refresher if not practicing

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Georgia.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing education program or substantially equivalent.
• Successful completion of a refresher course within the past 6 months if not practiced in 5 years.
• Prior experience in preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and develop, evaluate, and modify the care plan.
• Interpret and perform complex patient-care procedures within their scope.
• Collaborate within the Care Team and Support Team to achieve patient outcomes.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for care given to a group of patients.
• Provide care using therapeutic communication, nursing process, and team-based care.

What You Will Do

• Emergency Department is a 25 bed unit that cares for all patients from infants to geriatrics specializing in Cardiology and Stroke care.
• Under limited supervision, the Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing patients, including developing, evaluating, and modifying the care plan. The RN interprets and performs complex patient-care procedures specific to their expertise.
• RNs are members of the Care Team and Support Team and have accountability to function as a team to accomplish patient outcomes identified in the pathway/plan of care.
• The Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the care given to a group of patients for a designated time frame.
• The RN provides care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/technology, and other healthcare team members, according to established standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing or found by the Board to be substantially equivalent to the programs in Georgia.
• Successful completion of a refresher course within the past 6 months if nursing practice has not occurred within the past 5 years.
• Prior experience in preferred.
