Advocate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Ventilator Telemetry unit to provide nursing care to ventilator-dependent patients and high-acuity, medically complex cases. The role emphasizes residency for new grads and ongoing professional growth.

You will join a seasoned nursing team, operate on 12-hour or 8-hour shifts with weekend/holiday rotation, and benefit from programs supporting education and loan repayment.

Qualifications

Job description

Our Patient Population:

• The Ventilator Telemetry Medical unit at St. Luke's Medical Center is theonlyunit outside of an ICU that cares for ventilator dependent patients. Provide nursing care to a diverse patient population with respiratory issues including complex health conditions: ventilator dependency, heart failure, diabetes, COPD, wound care, infections, cellulitis, telemetry, and much more.
• This unique unit provides an excellent opportunity to develop a strong foundation and skills with a higher acuity of ventilated patients and the complexities that these patients experience pathophysiologically, pharmacologically, and post acute care. This is a great unit to develop skills as a new RN and a great precursor to those who may seek critical care nursing in the future.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providerscertification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Education Required:

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing.

Experience Required:

• New Nurse Grads, Newly Licensed RN's and Experienced RN's Welcome!

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
• Must be able to:
• lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
• lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
• carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
• Must be able to:
• push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
• perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
• Position requires use of foot pedals on carts or machines.
• May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
• Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
