Job summary

Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center CTICU is seeking a skilled RN to provide critical care to adults and geriatrics after cardiac surgery. You will perform nursing assessments, administer medications, monitor hemodynamics, and coordinate care across the ICU team.

Requirements include a nursing program completion, an active RN license, BLS, and ACLS within 6 months. Sign-on bonus available for eligible candidates.

• Completing an accredited or approved program in nursing.
• Minimum of 6 months RN experience; not for new graduates.
• RN license issued by the practicing state.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required.
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire.

Job description

• The Mattei Cardiothoracic Surgery ICU (CTICU) provides inpatient care to adult and geriatric patients on a 24-hour basis. Common diagnoses for these patients include, but not limited to: CABG, minimally Invasive CABG, valve repair/replacement, orthotopic heart transplant, ventricular assist device (VAD) placement, aortic aneurysm repair, congenital heart defect repair, and thoracotomy. Care is provided to listed population during the acute intensive care phase immediately following surgery.
• CTICU utilizes the following diagnostic and therapeutic services to facilitate patient care: nursing assessments and evaluation, administration of prescribed medications, EKG/hemodynamic monitoring, intravenous therapy (including titration of vasoactive and inotropic drips), maintenance of IABP, right and left VADs including impellers and ECMO, fluid and electrolyte balance, CRRT, ventilator support, respiratory care, safety management, nutritional support, family and patient education, infection control, skin care, standard precautions, point of care testing, and discharge planning.
• Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
• Candidates must have at least 6 months of RN experience, this position is not for new graduates
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire
• 1 year of inpatient RN experience preferred
