Job summary

Lutheran Senior Services is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide and coordinate compassionate care for residents in our Missouri facilities. The RN will work within licensure scope and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to meet physical, psychosocial, and functional needs.

The role requires an active RN license, CPR certification, and preferably a BSN with gerontological nursing experience. Duties include IV therapy, medication administration, documentation, and compliance with

Qualifications

• RN licensure in state of practice.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Must be CPR certified.
• Specialized training or experience in gerontological nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Practice nursing within the scope of licensure and act in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to define individualized care plans and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Perform IV-related tasks including TPNs, blood infusions, ports, and IV pushes when applicable.
• Pass and oversee medication administration; monitor IV fluids and therapies; IV therapy may be initiated by IV-certified staff.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care plans, MDS, and resident notes in the EMR.
• Utilize EMR for full clinical documentation per policy and procedures.
• Observe resident status to ensure quality care and coordinate with other services for continuity of care.
• Document medical information and maintain detailed, timely reports.
• Maintain safe environment by identifying hazards and implementing safety practices.
• Oversee and direct certified staff to uphold EverTrue standards of care.
• Perform rounds and document resident progress and changes in condition.
• Report incidents and support investigative protocols per state and federal regulations.

Job Description: Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) performs nursing functions within the scope of practice and provides and/or coordinates care and services to meet the residents’ physical, psychosocial, and functional care needs.

Job Responsibilities

1. Practices nursing care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act; Keeps a current active license; Follows state and federal licensure rules and regulations for the level of care in which they practice and in accordance with EverTrue clinical and administrative policies and procedures
2. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team in defining individualized plans of care for each resident; Works closely with nursing leadership to ensure regulatory compliance; Promotes individual and team learning and provides teaching and role modeling of professional nursing practices to staff for quality clinical care
3. Mixes TPNs, hangs first bag of blood for infusions, accesses, and de-accesses ports, performs IV pushes, and carries out other duties consistent with the registered nurse licensure
4. Passes medication and/or oversees the medication ordering and administration process; Administers medications and treatments to residents; monitors administration of I.V. fluids, supplemental nourishments, and medications when ordered; I.V. certified nurses may initiate I.V. therapy
5. Maintains a working knowledge and understanding of the observation/assessment and documentation process for the level of licensure in which they work, including care and service plans and the MDS as applicable
6. Utilizes the electronic medical record to capture full clinical documentation in accordance with policy and procedures
7. Observes resident status as necessary to assure quality care; Coordinates with other resident services to assure continuity of care; Documents medical information and maintains detailed, timely, and accurate reports
8. Maintains a safe, comfortable, and functional environment by assessing potential hazards; Implements practices to maintain optimum safety
9. Oversees and directs the certified staff and others as assigned to ensure the EverTrue standards of care and services are provided
10. Performs rounds according to established schedule; Documents resident progress, changes in condition, etc.
11. Reports and supports investigative protocols as it relates to staff or resident incidents and/or accidents in accordance with state and federal regulations

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• RN licensure in state of practice
• Graduate of an accredited/approved nursing school BSN preferred
• Must be CPR certified
• Specialized training or experience in gerontological nursing preferred

• Pay grade: 14, $31.05/hour to $49.75/hour.
• Eligible for shift differentials: Yes.
• $3.00/hour evenings; $2.50/hour nights; $2.50/hour weekends (States of IL & MO; May vary in other states)
