Job summary

Springfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a Main Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) for an evening shift. You will cover patient care from pre-op to post-op, coordinate with the surgeon and family, and maintain charting in a fast-paced OR environment with DaVinci robotics.

This is a full-time position with a $20,000 sign-on bonus, a flexible rotating schedule, and no weekend shifts. You will work within a Magnet hospital known for high-quality care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in Illinois.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• Must position/transfer adult patients and perform IV/IM procedures.
• Experience with hospital charting and invasive procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare OR, transport patients, and position for surgery.
• Maintain charting and administer meds to sterile field.
• Coordinate with family, surgeon, and OR team for updates.
• Support 1–4 surgeries daily in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

This is a Full Time, Evening Shift Poition - No Weekends

Flexible Rotating Schedule: 10:45am - 9:15pm / 12:45 - 11:15

The Main Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for every aspect of the patient’s care during surgery. The day begins with preparing the room for the procedure, picking the patient up from pre-op, positioning the patient, maintaining the charting and caring for the patient before, during and after the surgery. The nurse will act as the liaison between the family and the surgeon beginning with the call to let the family know that the first incision has been made. The nurse will continue to contact the family every hour or two to provide updates. During the surgery, the nurse is responsible for updating charting/paperwork, getting supplies if needed and administering meds to the sterile field. This process may be repeated for 1-4 surgeries a day depending on length of each surgery. The nurse works in an extremely team focused environment with their core team, scrub personnel, CRNA, Anesthesiologist and surgeon. The department is fast paced and technologically driven, which includes 3 DaVinci robots. Springfield Memorial Hospital had one of the first DaVinci Xis in the area.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

• Licensed as RN in State of Illinois required.
• Current BLS/CPR certification per policy.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Must be able to position and/or transfer an average adult patient and possess gross coordination sufficient to perform other patient care duties as required. Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing.
• Must be able to perform difficult manipulative skills such as IV insertion and IM injections.
• Environmental working conditions include exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue, contagious diseases and/or radioactive or other potentially hazardous materials.
