Job summary

Avera St Benedict Nursing Home in South Dakota seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for night shift responsibilities. You will provide comprehensive nursing care, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and support residents and families with clinical care, medications, and self-care education.

The role offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus, 72 hours every two weeks, and a $3/hour night differential with weekend incentives. Annual loan repayment options may also be available.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work the specified night hours.
• Active RN license in the state of practice.
• Prior long-term care or clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides resident care by reviewing physician prescriptions and communicating the nursing care plan to the health care team.
• Develops nursing care plans by documenting residents' medical histories and conditions and outlining interventions.
• Teaches residents and families about care goals, medications, and self-care skills.
• Evaluates resident care by monitoring outcomes, updating plans, and re-evaluating objectives.
• Maintains a safe, infection-controlled environment and adheres to medication policies.
• Coordinates admissions, discharges, and transfers to and from the facility.
• Directs workflow of nursing assistants and other nursing staff.

Position Highlights

$3 SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL is available for hours worked between 7p and 7a, $2 on weekends, and $5 on weekend nights!

A Brief Overview

Delivers nursing care by developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to residents, families, and friends to understand residents conditions, medications, and self-care skills; noting changing conditions and needs; re-evaluating care objectives.

What you will do

• Provides resident care by reviewing physician prescriptions; communicating the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health care team; coordinating with other healthcare providers; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to residents, families, and friends; conferring with physicians.
• Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories; examining residents; documenting residents physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors; conferring with family and friends; developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions, schedules, and timetables.
• Teaches healthcare requirements by establishing resident care goals; instructing resident, family, and friends to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions; providing information and resources.
• Evaluates resident’s care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against resident care standards; reviewing resident’s records; noting changing conditions and needs; re-evaluating care objectives; modifying nursing care plan.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy resident care environment by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations; adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns.
• Keeps resident care equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Keeps resident care supplies ready by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; stocking items.
• Coordinates admissions, discharges and transfers to and from the facility.
• Directs, plans and coordinates workflow of nursing assistants and other nursing personal.
• Maintains competence in nursing capabilities outlined by leadership.
