Job summary

Riverside Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Perioperative Services team in Onancock, VA. The role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of total nursing care for assigned patients within the Perioperative Services complex.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, ensure evidence-based practice, and support patient education and discharge planning. This position requires RN licensure, CPR/BLS, and ACLS/PALS within set timelines.

Qualifications

• RN degree required.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• ER experience preferred.
• RN license required.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• ACLS provider required within 90 days of hire.
• PALS provider required within 120 days of hire.

• Demonstrates unit-specific competencies and equipment training per checklists.

Onancock, Virginia Hiring Range $36.50 - $50.23/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

Overview

Works under the supervision of the Nurse manager and the Director and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients. The RN may work in a variety of settings in the Perioperative Services Complex and roles within Riverside Health System. The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Responsible for supervising and delegating non-professional personnel working directly with him/her to ensure optimum patient care. Must demonstrate competence in dealing with age related needs of the specific patient populations served in the Perioperative Services units/departments. Works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health system and facility goals and strategic plans.

• Demonstrates nursing unit specific competencies and equipment training, see checklists.
• Partners with patients and their family to develop, implement and evaluate a plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient.
• Incorporates evidence based standards of practice and collaborates with interdisciplinary team in care coordination.
• Facilitates safe patient transition to next level of care as part of plan of care.
• Demonstrates sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to ensure patient receives consistent, competent and ethical care.
• Focuses on quality outcomes of patient when addressing service needs to ensure evidence based quality care of patient.
• Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations.
• Modifies education method to ensure patient/family understanding.
• Assumes responsibility to coordinate and deliver individualized patient education and discharge specific education to family/caregivers.
• Evaluates for comprehension and documents.
• Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
• Delegates and prioritizes tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and service excellence to meet the patient's care needs..
• Recognizes and responds to emergency situations.
• Evaluates resources and support needed and uses systems to ensure needs are met.

• Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse (RN) - State Department of Health Professions (Required)
• CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
• ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required within 90 days of hire)
• PALS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required within 120 days of hire)
