Job summary

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA, is hiring a Registered Nurse for Labor and Delivery on the night shift. Experience in L&D and cross-training into postpartum are preferred; required call is 16–24 hours per 6 weeks. A sign-on bonus up to $20,000 is available for qualified candidates.

Full-time and part-time night shifts with weekend rotations are offered, with a strong focus on patient safety and teamwork in a Level II maternity setting.

Qualifications

• Registered nursing degree or diploma and active licensure.
• NRP within 6 months of hire; BLS within 90 days.
• 2 years of acute care RN in Women's Health preferred.
• Labor & Delivery experience preferred; charge nurse experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide RN care in Labor and Delivery with cross-training into postpartum.
• Participate in required on-call schedule (16–24 hours per 6 weeks).
• Care for mothers and newborns on LDRP with teamwork and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with obstetric teams to ensure quality maternity care.

Overview

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for Labor and Delivery! This is a night shift position with required call. Preferred applicants will have experience specifically in Labor and Delivery and will cross train into postpartum.

Sign on bonus up to $20,000 available for qualified candidates.

Schedules available

• Full Time Nights: Three 12-hour shifts per week with every 3rd weekend rotation on Saturday and Sunday.
• Part Time Nights: Two 12-hour shifts per week with every 3rd weekend rotation on Saturday and Sunday.

Call Requirement

The required call is 16-24 hours per 6-week schedule.

About the LDRP

Sentara Martha Jeffersons Women’s Health includes L&D, and a 24 bed post-partum mother/baby. Our Level 2 newborn specialty care nursery has a 1 to 1 ratio while our intermediate care babies have a 1 to 3 nursing ratio. Our LDRP unit also offers post operative care for complex GYN and Breast surgical needs. This specialty area has a 100-member team cross trained to offer best in class healthcare to Charlottesville, VA, and surrounding areas. The schedule is primarily 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holiday requirements. Education

• Degree or diploma in Registered Nursing
• BSN or MSN Preferred

Certification/Licensure

• Women's Care - Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire.
• BLS within 90 days of hire
• Registered nursing license required
• EFM- Electronic Fetal monitoring preferred
• Certified Obstetrics Nursing preferred

Experience

• 2 years of acute care registered nurse experience in Women's health preferred
• Experience in charge roles preferred
• Labor and Delivery specific Experience preferred
• Strong understanding of patient safety protocols.
• Manages complex cases in fast-paced environments
• Communication with patients and providers
• Must want to work night shift
