Job summary

Wellpath in Wisconsin’s Waukesha County Jail is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide direct patient care within a secure facility. You will work under the supervision of the Charge Nurse to implement the nursing process and educate patients, while maintaining compassionate, non-judgmental care.

The role supports a 3x12-hour shift schedule (0700–1930) with opportunities for professional growth and ongoing clinical resources.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum 1 year clinic experience preferred.
  • Current RN licensure and CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in assessing and planning individual treatment programs with the Charge Nurse.
  • Administer medications, obtain diagnostic tests, and assist with minor procedures as needed.
  • Count controlled substances and adhere to policies and protocols.
  • Document nursing encounters using SOAP notes and attend mandatory meetings.
  • Communicate information to nursing staff, physicians, and supervisors.

How you make a difference

As a Registered Nurse(RN), your primary responsibilityis toprovidepatient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning,implementation,and evaluation.You will work under the supervision of Charge Nurse(s) to provide patient education and activities in accordance with your competencies and education.This role requires excellent communication and critical thinking skills to ensureoptimalpatient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assistin assessing and planning individual treatment programs, consulting with Charge Nurse(s) and otherstaffas necessary.

  • Implement medical plans by administering medications, obtaining diagnostic tests, andassistingwith medical or minor surgical procedures as needed.

  • Count controlled substances and implement clinical and technical aspects of carein accordance withestablished policies, procedures, and protocols.

  • Document nursing encounters using the SOAP form of charting as required by policy and attend mandatory staff meetings and training.

  • Communicate information to nursing staff, physician, health care unit supervisory personnel or otherstaffas necessary.

Additional Details

3 12hr shifts per week, every other weekend

0700-1930

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

Experience

  • Prefer a minimum of one (1) year clinic experience

Licenses/Certifications

  • Have and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse within the state of employment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
