Job Overview
The RN Infection Preventionist evaluates the quality of resident care and outcomes related to Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI) and Community Acquired Infections (CAI) in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. Responsibilities include collecting, preparing, and analyzing HAI data, presenting infection data with recommendations, monitoring staff compliance with infection control standards, and providing education to staff, residents, and families. The role serves as a resource across departments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Nursing diploma (associate's or bachelor's degree)
- Active RN license in applicable state
- CPR certification (upon hire or during orientation, must remain current)
- Specialized IPC training beyond initial education; re-evaluation required if resident population changes
- Preferred: experience with geriatrics
- State-required certifications (e.g., Certified TB Nurse)
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor Public Health Advisories from local, state, and federal agencies, including CDC
- Serve as the on-site IPC for COVID-19 prevention and response, following CDC guidelines
- Work onsite at the facility; not off-site or at separate locations
- Develop and oversee the Antibiotic Stewardship Program
- Stay updated on infection control trends and employee health practices
- Perform within scope of license and make independent decisions when necessary
- Implement and interpret infection prevention policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality and professional relationships
- Adhere to company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures

This position is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and requires work experience in healthcare. English proficiency is required. The role is entry level, full-time, within the healthcare industry, specifically in health care provision.
