Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee is hiring an ICU Registered Nurse (RN) for the Level 1 Float Pool. The role supports intensive care units across the hospital, delivering high‑quality, compassionate care with versatility and teamwork on every shift.

The ideal candidate has an accredited nursing program, Wisconsin RN license, BLS, and ACLS within 6 months. You will cover self-scheduling and at least one weekend per 6‑week period, with opportunities to grow clinically.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin.
• BLS certification; ACLS within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care across ICU units as part of the float pool.
• Perform assessments, interventions, and timely response to deterioration.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain required shift schedule (one weekend shift every 6 weeks).

Our Internal ICU Float RNs bring versatility, clinical strength, and teamwork to every shift, ensuring high‑quality, compassionate care across multiple critical care areas within a single facility.

We’re Looking For:

Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursingRegistered Nurse license issued by the state of practiceBasic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (AHA)Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hireExperience:

Minimum

18 months

of ICU RN experience ( 2 years strongly preferred )Flexibility and ability to meet the following scheduling expectations per 6‑week period:

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, twisting, and lifting throughout the workday. Must safely lift up to 35 pounds and perform patient handling tasks, including pushing/pulling up to 30 pounds and assisting with 150-pound sliding transfers. Requires functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine motor skills for clinical procedures, as well as the ability to operate equipment foot controls. Must be able to respond quickly to changing patient conditions and perform patient  safety interventions, including verbal de‑escalation and restraints when necessary. Exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and hazardous waste may occur; appropriate protective equipment must be used.  Physical Abilities Testing and additional department‑specific requirements may apply.
