Alpha Home Health and Hospice seeks a Registered Nurse for a surgical/labor and delivery focused role. The nurse will assess patients, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and implement individualized care plans, promoting safe, age-appropriate care.

Qualifications include an accredited nursing program graduate with a Connecticut RN license and CPR at hire. Prior surgical or labor and delivery experience, especially assisting with C-sections, is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments across psychosocial, physical, educational, and cultural aspects.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams to develop and evaluate care plans.
  • Administer medications safely following policies and age-specific considerations.
  • Follow safety protocols for patient identification, surgical procedures, and time-outs.
  • Document care and patient responses accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain aseptic techniques and communicate effectively with surgical staff.
  • Prepare operating rooms and assist with specimen handling.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, critical thinking, and autonomous practice in high-stress environments.
  • Provide age-appropriate care and interpret patient data to meet individual needs.
  • Serve as a professional role model and mentor colleagues while pursuing ongoing development.

Role Overview:

This position is for a Registered Nurse providing high-quality, patient-centered care in a surgical or labor and delivery setting.
