Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Fairfax seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse for our GI Surgical Cancer clinic. This full-time day shift runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with no weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements.

The clinic offers sign-on bonus and relocation assistance for qualified external applicants. You will join a multidisciplinary team delivering compassionate cancer care, coordinating patient plans, and educating patients and families throughout the continuum

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year RN experience.
• BSN or ADN (if ADN then BSN within 5 years).
• BLS for Healthcare Provider required.
• RN license in Virginia.
• Proficient in English; strong communication and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in GI Surgical Cancer clinic.
• Coordinate care with healthcare team and other disciplines.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans and follow-up.

The Great Falls Clinic (5S)

which is located within the newly built Inova Schar Cancer Institute, is an outpatient physician clinic whose team members work closely and expertly with our board‑certified medical and surgery oncologist and advanced practitioners to serve patients for management of GI and GU cancers.

The Registered Nurse provides knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patients, families, nurses and healthcare delivery teams. Consistently provides safe and therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way while incorporating differences into the provision of care and conducting all patient care in a patient/family centered manner. Integrates knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum, to include patient and family education. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others while having respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines. Determines processes for delivery of care from direct patient/family communication, technology and other healthcare team member collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience.
• Education: BSN or ADN - If ADN then complete BSN within 5 years of start date
• BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association required
• RN licensed, and eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Proficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skill and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards others. Proficient computer skills required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Oncology experience strongly preferred
• Previous GI experience preferred
• Outpatient nursing experience
