Job description

Role Overview

Registered Nurse (RN) – Float. PRN, as needed. 12‑hour shifts, may include day or night, weekends and holidays.

Provide direct patient care across inpatient units (Med/Surg, ICU, PCU, ED, L&D, Mother/Baby, NICU, Pre‑Op/PACU, Post‑Surgical) using the nursing process. Demonstrate flexibility to float where needed and collaborate with interprofessional teams to support safe, high‑quality care. Report to the Department Director or Manager.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina or compact state Registered Nurse license
• Associate degree from an accredited nursing school
• AHA Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire
• AHA ACLS and PALS certifications required within six months of hire
• 2–4 years critical care experience preferred
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, and ability to work in a stressful environment
