Backus Hospital, part of Hartford HealthCare, is seeking a registered nurse for the 7:00pm–7:30am shift with rotating weekends and holidays. You will apply the nursing process, build a therapeutic nurse-patient relationship, and assess patient needs to plan, implement, and evaluate care.

Education required: nursing degree; BSN/MSN preferred. Experience: 1 year RN, nurse residency; 2+ years in the clinical area preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing; BSN or MSN preferred.
• 1 year RN experience and/or successful completion of Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
• 2+ years experience in this specific clinical area preferred.

Job Summary

Demonstrates clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, implements and evaluates care provided to patients.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of a school of nursing. BSN or MSN preferred.

Experience: One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program. Two (2) or more years experience in this specific clinical area preferred.

License And Certification

• Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 90 days of hire.
• Completion of basic fetal monitoring class by the end of orientation. Electronic Fetal Monitoring National certification (NCC) within two (2) years of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications.
• Registered Nurse Core Certification (RNC or RN-BC) preferred.
