Job summary

Huntington Beach Hospital seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to deliver safe patient care in the Emergency Department during night shifts. The role requires collaboration with physicians, patient education, and supervision of junior staff in a fast-paced telemetry setting.

The ideal candidate holds an RN license for California, BLS/ACLS/PALS, and preferably BSN with ER experience or CEN certification; EMTALA knowledge is essential. Excellent patient privacy and teamwork are expected.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certificates required or within specified timelines.
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of one year experience as an RN in an acute care hospital; ED experience preferred.
• CEN certification and BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in Telemetry and ED.
• Provide direct patient care within scope of practice, including patient/family teaching.
• Direct and guide other nursing staff; ensure adherence to professional nursing standards.
• Communicate with physicians about changes in patient condition and test results.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient status and response to treatment.
• Know EMTALA requirements and report abuse to appropriate agencies; maintain patient privacy.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility May Require Items Listed Below)

• In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
• EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
• Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $49.39 to $66.39. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
