Job summary

Ochsner Health in Louisiana seeks a Registered Nurse leader to deliver patient care using the nursing process within the Nurse Practice Act and standards. You will delegate and guide licensed staff and ensure quality outcomes.

You will work in a collaborative inter-disciplinary team, uphold compliance and privacy standards, and support department goals while adapting care to diverse patient populations.

Qualifications

  • RN license in the state of practice.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association).
  • CPI certification within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS within 90 days of hire.
  • PALS within 90 days of hire.
  • Clinical specialty certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Uses the nursing process to deliver patient care.
  • Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies for diverse patients and families.
  • Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources on the inter-disciplinary team.
  • Uses data and knowledge to evaluate and promote changes for optimal outcomes.
  • Supports customer satisfaction and employee morale while advancing nursing practice.
  • Adapts care to diverse patient populations with respect for privacy and clear communication.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Complies with the organization's Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct.

Education

Required - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Preferred - Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Work Experience

Certifications

Required - Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certification within 30 days of hire.

Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire.

Preferred -Certification in clinical specialty area.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
