Job summary

Advocate Health's Summit Emergency Department in Summit, WI seeks an experienced RN to join a 21-bed Level II Trauma Center. The role supports pediatric and adult patients with urgent care needs and uses the nursing process to coordinate comprehensive care.

You will work PM/Mid-Shift (.6 FTE), with hours 1100-2330 or 1300-0130, and every 4th weekend plus 3 holidays. Competitive benefits accompany part-time engagement.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • Registered Nurse license in the practicing state.
  • BLS certification (within 6 months).
  • ACLS certification (within 6 months).
  • PALS certification (within 6 months).
  • TNCC certification (within 12 months).

  • Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care using the nursing process.
  • Deliver safe, therapeutic care following standards and procedures.
  • Lead efforts to ensure patient safety and positive experience across care continuum.

We’re Looking For
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association or within 6 months
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or within 6 months
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or within 6 months
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) issued by the Emergency Nurses Association or within 12 months
What You’ll Do

As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, twisting, and lifting throughout the workday. Must safely lift up to 35 pounds and perform patient handling tasks, including pushing/pulling up to 30 pounds and assisting with 150-pound sliding transfers. Requires functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine motor skills for clinical procedures, as well as the ability to operate equipment foot controls. Must be able to respond quickly to changing patient conditions and perform patient safety interventions, including verbal de-escalation and restraints when necessary. Exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and hazardous waste may occur; appropriate protective equipment must be used.
