Job summary

Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department (Telemetry) on the night shift. You will deliver safe patient care, assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care, and communicate changes in patient status with physicians.

Required are an active state RN license and core certifications (BLS, ALS, PALS/ENPC). CNEN and BSN are preferred; numerous facility requirements apply and a sign-on bonus is available.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• BLS certificate on hire and maintained.
• ALS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained.
• PALS and/or ENPC within 60 days of hire and maintained.
• CEN certification preferred.
• BSN preferred.
• ECRN or MICN certificate within 12 months of hire and maintained.
• NRP certificate within 90 days and maintained.
• TNCC within 12 months; TNCC preferred for non-trauma facilities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Provide direct patient care within the ED Telemetry scope of practice.
• Direct and guide patient/family teaching and nursing staff activities.
• Communicate with physicians about changes in patient condition and diagnostic results.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with EMTALA and hospital policies.

Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid state RN License.
2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. Current ALS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
4. Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 60 days upon hire and maintain current.
5. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
6. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):

1. ECRN or MICN certificate required within 12 months of hire and maintained current
2. EDAP certified facilities: Completion of required annual education
3. Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
4. Trauma designated facilities: Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 12 months of hire and maintain. Non-trauma facilities, TNCC preferred.
