Job summary

St Mary’s Health Care System in Athens, GA is seeking a Registered Nurse for our 28-bed Medical Surgical unit. This full-time, 12-hour day-shift role focuses on compassionate, patient-centered care within a supportive, team-based environment.

You will assess patients, develop and modify care plans, collaborate with the care and support teams, and uphold standards of practice. Requirements include GA RN license, accredited program, refresher if needed, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Georgia.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing or substantially equivalent.
• Recent refresher course within past 6 months if nursing practice not occurred in past 5 years.
• BLS Certification through American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients, develop, evaluate, and modify the care plan; perform complex patient-care procedures.
• Work as part of the Care Team and Support Team to achieve patient outcomes in the pathway/plans of care.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for the care given to a group of patients for a designated time frame.

What You Will Do

• Under limited supervision, the Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing patients, including developing, evaluating, and modifying the care plan. The RN interprets and performs complex patient-care procedures specific to their expertise.
• RNs are members of the Care Team and Support Team and have accountability to function as a team to accomplish patient outcomes identified in the pathway/plan of care.
• The Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the care given to a group of patients for a designated time frame.
• The RN provides care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/technology, and other healthcare team members, according to established standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing or found by the Board to be substantially equivalent to the programs in Georgia.
• Successful completion of a refresher course within the past 6 months if nursing practice has not occurred within the past 5 years.
• Prior experience in preferred. New Graduates considered. BLS Certification thru American Heart Association required.
