Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health seeks a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for the Critical Care Float Pool at the New Brunswick campus. The role requires strong critical care skills, flexibility to care for trauma, neurology, cardiology, orthopedics, and oncology patients, and a commitment to nursing excellence.

Night shift, 36 hours per week, with some weekend and holiday rotation. Active New Jersey RN license, BLS and ACLS, NIHSS, and ASN or Diploma are required; BSN preferred with 2–3 years CC RN

• At least 1 year of Critical Care RN experience.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficient computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards.
• Ensure safety in practice and adherence to evidence-based care.
• Report identified safety issues and maintain patient population knowledge.
• Supervise and direct delegation of tasks to team members; collaborate with care providers.
• Set and evaluate priorities with measurable outcomes toward improvement.

Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Healthis seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for our Critical Care Float Pool Department at the New Brunswick campus.

Qualifications:

Required:

• ASN or Nursing Diploma
• At least 1 year of Critical Care RN experience
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficient computer skills

Preferred:

• BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hire
• At least 2-3 years of Critical Care RN experience
• CCRN

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
• BLS and ACLS certification
• NIHSS

Scheduling Requirements :

• Night Shift, 36hours per week, 7p-7:30a
• Monday - Friday, some weekend and holiday rotation
• PT

Essential Functions:

The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.

The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.

The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs.
