Job summary

Peterson Health in Kerrville, Texas, is hiring for a Full-Time Clinical Decision Unit RN. The role offers three 12-hour shifts per week with day and night coverage, and a commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.

The RN will assess patients, plan and implement individualized care, and supervise staff to ensure safety and quality. An acute care background and Texas RN license are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Unrestricted Texas RN license and BLS required.
• Ability to meet patient care needs across unit and coordinate with the team.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs on the unit and plan nursing care to meet those needs, including emotional and psychosocial aspects.
• Lead and coordinate care with subordinate staff to implement the plan and evaluate patient responses.

What you will do

The RN is responsible for assessing the needs of each patient on the unit and planning the nursing care needed to meet those needs, including spiritual, emotional, physiological, and psychosocial needs. Once planned, the RN is responsible to see that the plan of care is carried out through performance and/or leadership of subordinate personnel. After the plan is implemented and the care provided, the patients’ response is evaluated both verbally and in writing.

Required Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Required Skills

• Patient Care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Must communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Knowledge and ability to perform skills necessary for unit specific competencies, to include age specific competencies.

Preferred Skills

• Advanced competencies as defined by demonstrated participation in formal Continuing Nursing Education activities.

Required Licensure/Registration/Certification

• Unrestricted Texas license as a Registered Nurse and Basic Life Support

Preferred Licensure/Registration/Certification

• ACLS and PALS

Required Experience

• Eligibility to participate in a new RN Preceptorship program

Preferred Experience

• Six to Twelve months of experience as an RN in an inpatient medical surgical setting.
