Job summary

Cayuga Health is hiring a Registered Nurse for Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY. The RN will support physicians and mid-level providers with clinical activities and direct patient care, including triage and patient record preparation.

Required is graduation from an accredited RN program and NYS RN licensure, plus BLS certification. The role is onsite with a Monday–Friday schedule and a competitive hourly pay range.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited RN program is required.
• Current NYS licensure as a Registered Nurse is required.
• BLS Certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs professional nursing care in accordance with the New York State Nursing Practice Act.
• Carries out all assigned nursing procedures for the comfort and well-being of patients, per practice.
• Takes and records patient’s vital signs.
• Performs triage for physicians/providers with regard to clinical questions, prescription refills, test results and other patient calls per practice protocols.
• Prepares patient’s record for visit and patient education, as directed by physician/provider.
• Maintains compliance regulations.
• Participates in scheduled team meetings to discuss/clarify roles, responsibility, processes, and patient issues.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and committees, as requested.
• Provide care management by communicating with community agencies as appropriate.
• Works with all members of the team to achieve patient-centered care as well as quality care by using the best practice standards and case management.

Summary

The purpose of the Registered Nurse position is to support the physicians and/or mid-level providers in the practice with clinical activities and direct patient care. The RN may also assist in appointment scheduling and other related activities for optimal patient service. RN’s by nature of licensure have an oversight responsibility to other clinical staff (LPN’s and medical assistants).

• Knowledge of medical insurance carriers and how to obtain prior authorization
• Knowledge and ability to perform manual blood pressure checks

• Shift: Monday through Friday 7:00AM - 6:00PM; varying shift start and stop times based on staff rotation

Pay Range Disclosure

• $37.05 to $44.65 per hour plus benefits
