Job summary

Good Samaritan University Hospital, part of Catholic Health, seeks a CTICU RN to join our team. You will care for post-open-heart surgery patients and work with an interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.

This role offers growth within a teaching hospital setting on Long Island. Qualified candidates have 1+ year CCU/ICU, NY RN license, BSN or active enrollment, and BLS/ACLS certification; CCRN is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a CCU/ICU/CTICU (CVICU or open-heart experience a plus).
• NY RN license and active BLS/ACLS certifications required; CCRN preferred.
• BSN preferred or enrolled in BSN program; new grads may enter residency.

Responsibilities

• Recover, assess, monitor, administer medications, document progress, and manage overall care for post-open-heart surgery patients.
• Collaborate with physicians, RNs and staff to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
• Cross-train between CTICU and Intermediate Care Unit to ensure flexible coverage.
• Advocate for patients and families with safety, education, and emotional support.

Job Details

Our Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) RN's

• Recover, assess, monitor, administer medication, document progress, and manage overall care for patients who have undergone open-heart surgery
• Partner with an interdisciplinary team including, but not limited to, attending physicians, registered nurses (RN), and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
• Cross-train between the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) and the Intermediate Care Unit
• Advocate for and build meaningful relationships with patients and their loved ones through safety intervention, emotional support and education.

What You'll Bring

• Passion for the CTICU
• 1+ years of experience in a Critical Care Unit (CCU, ICU, CTICU, CVICU, etc.), experience with open heart patients a plus
• 1+ years cardiac step-down experience preferred
• Education: Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
• Will consider Associates Degree if enrolled in an accredited BSN program
• Licensure: New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required, Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) preferred
• New Grads hired for this role will be entered in a residency program.

Salary Range

USD $56.36 - USD $77.34 /Hr.
