Job summary

Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Progressive Care Registered Nurse (RN) for the Cardiac Intermediate Care Unit on the night shift (7p–7a). You’ll be on the front line delivering compassionate, patient-centered care to cardiac patients.

In collaboration with medical teams, you will assess patient status, administer medications, document care, and support pre-operative and post-operative needs to ensure an exceptional patient experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (diploma, associate, or baccalaureate).
• Minimum of six months of clinical experience as a licensed RN.
• Current Texas RN license or Multi-State Compact license; must obtain Texas license within 60 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying changes in status.
• Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record promptly and thoroughly.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient response.
• Maintain knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment for cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

What you will do in this role:

• Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.

• Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.

• Minimum of six (6) months of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse

• Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 60 days of hire date)

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
