As a Registered Nurse in the Cancer Clinic at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, you'll combine clinical nursing expertise, patient education, and care coordination to support individuals throughout their cancer care journey. From initial diagnosis and treatment planning to active treatment, symptom management, follow-up, and survivorship, you'll help patients understand their care plans and confidently navigate each stage of treatment. Working closely with oncology physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, you'll contribute to a supportive outpatient environment focused on clinical excellence, continuity of care, and positive patient outcomes.
As a Cancer Clinic Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

  • Performing comprehensive nursing assessments and obtaining relevant medical, surgical, medication, allergy, and treatment histories
  • Assessing patient symptoms, monitoring treatment-related toxicities, and identifying changes in condition that require clinical intervention
  • Providing telephone triage to evaluate patient concerns, offer appropriate nursing guidance, and coordinate timely follow-up with the oncology care team
  • Collaborating with oncology physicians to implement individualized treatment plans and support patients throughout the cancer care continuum
  • Coordinating care between the oncology physician practice, infusion services, radiation oncology, surgery, diagnostic imaging, and other specialty services
  • Administering prescribed injections and providing nursing care for venous access devices in accordance with established clinical standards
  • Educating patients and families about cancer diagnoses, treatment plans, prescribed medications, and expected treatment outcomes
  • Providing medication education, including guidance on oral anticancer therapies, supportive medications, potential side effects, and medication management
  • Helping patients recognize and manage treatment-related symptoms while reinforcing when to contact their healthcare team or seek immediate medical attention
  • Supporting patients through treatment planning, active treatment, follow-up care, survivorship, and supportive oncology services
  • Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation, including nursing assessments, patient education, medication information, and care coordination activities
  • Partnering with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary team members to promote continuity of care, patient safety, and a positive outpatient oncology experience
This Role Might Be For You If

  • You are comfortable providing telephone triage, evaluating patient symptoms, and communicating clinical concerns to physicians
  • You enjoy educating patients and families about treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and symptom management
  • You understand the importance of medication safety, venous access care, and monitoring for treatment-related complications
  • You enjoy collaborating with oncology physicians, infusion teams, radiation oncology, and other specialty services to coordinate patient care
  • You are organized, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple patient needs and clinical priorities
  • You communicate clearly and compassionately, particularly when supporting patients and families through challenging diagnoses and treatment decisions
  • You value continuity of care and helping patients navigate appointments, treatments, follow-up services, and survivorship resources
  • You are committed to patient advocacy, clinical excellence, and delivering a supportive, patient-centered oncology experience
