Mercy Health seeks a Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) in Behavioral Health at St. Charles Hospital to provide compassionate, evidence-based care within a 36-hour weekly, days shift setting.

The role emphasizes assessment, care planning, medication administration and collaboration with a diverse care team to promote safe, therapeutic environments and improved patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current state RN licensure (or compact licensure).
• BLS Basic Life Support required or preferred; ACLS acceptable in lieu of BLS.
• One year of RN experience; Behavioral Health experience preferred.
• EPIC EHR training preferred; De-Escalation training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care according to the plan of care and nursing scope of practice; closely monitor progress.
• Assess and document patient conditions and report changes as needed.
• Administer medications, insulin, and IV fluids; document thoroughly.
• Inspect wounds, change dressings, and assist with personal hygiene.
• Apply effective interviewing to gather information for treatment plans.
• Assess patients for injuries, infections, bedsores; deliver appropriate treatments.
• Collaborate with providers, aides, and allied health professionals to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by:

• Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status
• Implementing clinical nursing interventions
• Having a highly diverse medical skillset
• Developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes
• Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment

Essential Functions:

• Providedirect patient care according to theprovider’sprescribed plan of care (and nursingscope of practice) while closely monitoring progress/recovery
• Assessand documents the patient’s conditions and reportchangesas needed
• Administer medication, insulin, and IV/fluids,documenting thoroughly
• Inspect and care for wounds, changing dressings and assisting with personal hygiene
• Applies effective interviewing skills to elicit information from patient and/or family/significant other that is necessary to plan and implement the treatment plan
• Assess patient for further injuries, infections, bedsores, etc. and deliver appropriate treatments

• Other duties as assigned

Education:

• Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred)

Certifications:

• Current state licensure (or covered compact licensure) as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care; ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support acceptable in lieu of BLS)

Experience:

• One (1) year of professional experience practicing as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Recent Behavioral Health experience (preferred, not required)

Training:

• EPIC Electronic Health Record training (preferred, not required)
• De-Escalation Training (preferred, not required)
