Job summary

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient consent for procedures and ensures patient confidentiality.

• Maintains/reviews patient records and ensures follow-up of patients.
• Responds to incoming procedure-related calls.
• Assists during procedures with patients and physicians; understands equipment used.
• Learn scope reprocessing techniques used by the facility.
• Knowledge of preparation and administration of medications used in the facility.
• Uses assessment skills to monitor patients and provide pre/post-procedure teaching.
• Attends department meetings and participates in in-services.
• Assist with TDDC clinic workflows and duties as needed.

Position purpose

Responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients including assessment, treatment, care planning, and medical care evaluation by following established standards and practices. Assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as primary liaison between patients, staff and physicians.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

• Verifies patient consent for procedures and ensures patient confidentiality. Obtains and documents health history, vital signs, health risk factors and assesses patient. Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations. Provides quality nursing care.
• Documents patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
• Maintains/reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Organizes documentation and accurate recording of pertinent clinical data to establish a concise record of the health care delivered. Assures and documents appropriate follow-up of patients.
• Responds to incoming patient procedure-related phone calls.
• Provides safe and proficient assistance to the patient and physician during procedures. Obtains a thorough understanding of each procedure and the equipment used during procedures.
• Learn scope reprocessing techniques utilized by the facility.
• Has knowledge of preparation and administration of all medications used in the facility.
• Uses complete assessment skills to monitor the patient and proceed with corrective measures where indicated. Provides pre and post-procedure teaching to patients.
• Attends and actively participates in department meetings and in-services offered.
• Assist with TDDC clinic work flows and duties as needed

Qualifications

EDUCATION: RN degree. Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing. EXPERIENCE: Professional nursing experience, gastroenterology experience and IV placement experience preferred. REQUIREMENTS: Current state registered nurse license. Current BLS certificate.
