Job summary

Social Row Transitional Care in Ohio seeks a Nursing Supervisor to oversee day-to-day facility operations during the tour, ensuring high-quality resident care and adherence to federal, state, and local standards.

The role requires an RN with leadership abilities and an active license. You will supervise nursing staff, coordinate with the DON, and support QA/QI, infection control, and safety programs to maintain excellent care.

Qualifications

  • Must possess nursing degree from an accredited college, university, or nursing school.
  • Must hold a current, unrestricted RN license to practice.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions when warranted.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and collaborate with staff.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day nursing activities during tour of duty.
  • Report to Director of Nursing and provide written/oral reports.
  • Ensure all nursing personnel follow facility policies and procedures.
  • Participate in QA/QI, infection control, and safety programs.
  • Participate in government surveys and inspections.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as needed, including physician orders.
  • Complete accident and incident reports and investigations.
  • Maintain daily census with 24-hour reports.
  • Notify DON/ADON of drug discrepancies and staffing issues.
  • Develop and assign work tasks for nursing staff.

Job description

General Description

The primary purpose of this position is to supervise the day to day activities of the facility during your tour of duty. The supervisor has the responsibility of the entire facility during her/his tour of duty.

Such supervision must in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in directing the day to day functions of the nursing activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long term care facility: make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director of Nursing concerning the operations of the nursing department.
  • Ensure that all nursing personnel comply with the written policies and procedures established by the facility.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the facility’s QA/QI, infection control, and safety programs.
  • Participate in surveys made by authorized government agencies.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required, including physician orders.
  • Complete accident and incident reports including first report of injury and supervisor’s investigation.
  • Assist in maintaining daily census by submitting 24 hour report as required.
  • Notify the DON, ADON, of all drug and narcotic discrepancies.
  • Inform the DON when assigned personnel fail to report for work.
  • Develop work assignments and/or assist in completing such assignments.
Specifications:
  • Works throughout nursing care areas.
  • Is involved with residents, personnel, family, visitors, and government agencies under all conditions.
  • Works beyond normal hours, and in other positions temporarily.
  • Is subject to callbacks during emergency conditions, i.e., severe weather, and evacuation, post disaster.
  • Must possess, as a minimum, a nursing degree from an accredited college, university or nursing school. Must also possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a RN.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at time, hostile people with the facility.
