Job summary

Planned Parenthood Great Plains in Overland Park, KS seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to support clinical care in a fast-paced women’s health setting. You will prepare patients, assist providers, manage EMR/EHR records, and participate in on‑call rotation.

The role requires an ADN/BSN, BLS, compact KS/MO license, and experience with Epic or similar EMR. Competitive hourly pay, sign‑on bonus, paid holidays, and generous PTO are offered. Travel within the Kansas City Metro may be required.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required.
  • Compact RN license for Kansas and Missouri.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including Saturdays and evenings.
  • Minimum of two years’ clinical experience; surgical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for visits and document medical history, vitals, and treatments.
  • Assist providers during examinations while following safety regulations.
  • Prepare specimens, perform CLIA‑compliant tests and dispense medications as directed.
  • Perform ultrasounds for surgery and medical patients; document results.
  • Provide nursing care, monitor post‑operative patients, and educate on post‑op care.
  • Educate patients on contraception and PPGP services; assist with referrals.
  • Maintain EMR/EHR data and support claims processing.
  • Participate in rotating on‑call schedule and maintain patient confidentiality.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examination room which has been prepped with supplies, instruments and equipment. Verify patient information by interviewing, reviewing and/or recording medical history, taking vital signs, confirming purpose of visit or treatment, and reviewing medications and allergies. Complete records by documenting patient examination, treatment, and test results.
  • Support patient care delivery by assisting health care providers during examinations. Adhere to OSHA regulations when handling biological matter, disposing contaminated supplies, and sterilizing medical instruments.
  • As ordered by providers, prepare laboratory specimens; perform basic laboratory tests on the premises. Conduct tests according to CLIA standards and adhere to OSHA regulations when handling biological matter. Carry out provider’s orders regarding patient care. Facilitate dispensing of medications, birth control and controlled substances as directed by a physician.
  • Perform ultrasounds for surgery patients, medical patients, and patients undecided about surgery, and for medical follow‑up ultrasound testing. Observe the screen during the scan to ensure the image produced is satisfactory for gestational purposes, adjusting equipment as required. Complete written documentation for use in medical treatment.
  • Perform nursing duties in patient assessment, surgery, and recovery. Monitor pre‑ and post‑surgical patients in the recovery area, focusing on their medical and emotional needs.
  • Educate patients regarding post‑operative instructions, contraception, and follow‑up exams. Provide clients with accurate information regarding PPGP services, including questions pertaining to contraception, options, and funding sources. Utilize referral resources effectively, as needed.
  • Inventory ultrasound room and recovery area supplies; inform the Health Center Manager of stock levels. Keep ultrasound and emergency equipment in good order by following operating instructions and notifying the Health Center Manager if repairs or maintenance is needed.
  • Maintain patient data in EMR/EHR and adhere to documentation standards to support efficient claims processing.
  • Perform follow‑up duties on laboratory results and after patient procedures via letters and phone conversations.
  • Participate in the rotating on‑call program to ensure patient questions and concerns are addressed when health centers are closed.
  • Adhere to PPGP goals and policies regarding professionalism, minimizing patient wait time in the health center and on the phone, addressing patient complaints, and implementing patient satisfaction surveys following each visit.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all PPGP information, patient non‑public personal information (NPI) and personal health information (PHI), as well as records directly or indirectly identifying any person currently or formerly receiving services from PPGP. Comply with PPGP confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • May have occasion to work at other health centers in the Kansas City Metro area.

  • Travel throughout the affiliate as needed.
  • Bilingual a plus.
Compensation & Benefits

Starting Salary Range: $34.00 - $38.00 per hour

Sign‑On Bonus: $2,500 payable after 60 days of successful employment

Paid Holidays: 13 holidays per year, including a full holiday week beginning December 21.

Work Week: 37.5 hours (four 10‑hour days)

  • Annual Paid Time Off: Vacation 112.5 hours, Sick Leave 48 hours, Holidays 105 hours (includes a full holiday week in December).
  • Parental Leave: After 12 months of full‑time employment, employees are eligible for paid parental leave at 100% base salary for six weeks.
Other Information

Travel throughout the affiliate as needed. Bilingual skills are a plus.
