Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a Night Shift at Muskegon County Jail in Michigan. The RN delivers quality care, administers meds, and advocates for patient safety in a correctional facility.

The role requires an active RN license in Michigan, a nursing degree or approved RN program, and CPR certification. Full-time night shift with PRN options and a comprehensive benefits package are included.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university OR have graduated from an approved RN program.
• Must possess a current license in this state.
• Active CPR certification required; knowledge of state practice acts and annual competencies preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care within the scope of practice and ensure patient safety.
• Administer medications and monitor patient reactions and vital signs.
• Document care provided and coordinate with the healthcare team to implement care plans.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to appropriate nursing staff within scope of practice.
• Prepare rooms and equipment for examinations and educate patients and families.

REGISTERED NURSE (RN) POSITION SUMMARY

A Registered Nurse (RN) delivers quality care consistent within the scope of practice as outlined by the local state nurse practice act for Registered Nurses. The RN works in accordance with local practice acts and regulations, delegates and ensures supervision of nursing activities and functions to other competent nursing personnel appropriate to their scope of practice. The RN assumes responsibility and accountability for the quality of care delivered; works to ensure a safe environment for themselves, the patient and other staff members. The RN acts as a patient advocate to promote the quality of health care delivered in the facility and serves as a leader at all times to promote best practices within the profession of nursing.

REGISTERED NURSE (RN)MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
• Possesses an active CPR certification.
• Remains knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice.
• Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies to demonstrate aptitude as assigned by role.
• ER Experience preferred but not required.

REGISTERED NURSE (RN) SCHEDULE

REGISTERED NURSE (RN) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• The RN maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.
• The RN administers medications to patients and monitors patients for reactions and side effects.
• The RN records patients’ medical information and vital signs.
• The RN monitors, records, and reports symptoms or changes in patients’ condition.
• The RN consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
• The RN modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions.
• The RN monitors all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
• The RN directs or supervises less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit.
• The RN prepares patients for and assists with examinations or treatments.
• The RN instructs individuals, families, or other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, as well as developing health improvement programs.
• The RN prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained.
• The RN orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s condition.
• The RN attends training and meetings as required.
