Job summary

MyMichigan Health on the Med-Surg unit seeks a Staff Nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care under the supervision of the Nurse Manager. You will coordinate care with the team and supervise co-workers in implementing the patient plan of care.

Requires Associate degree in nursing with two years of Medical-Surgical/Charge Nurse experience, and credentials: RN, BLS, ACLS, fingerprinting, TEAM ADVANCED.

Qualifications

• Two years general Medical-Surgical/Charge Nurse experience required.
• RN: Registered Nurse credential, BLS, ACLS, fingerprinting, TEAM ADVANCED certifications required.
• Education: ASSOC; Bachelor degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care using the Nursing Process: assess, plan, implement, document.
• Evaluates patient response and updates the care plan.
• Oversees delegation of care tasks to unit staff.

Job description

Responsibilities

• (50%)* Provides nursing care using the Nursing Process by: Completing nursing assessment of patient and documenting appropriately in the patient chart. Develops a plan of care based upon the assessment of the patient. Implements plan of care and documents in the chart.
• (30%)* Evaluates patients response to care and updates plan of care.
• (20%)* Oversees the delegation of specifics of the patient plan of care to unit staff.

• Maintains professional standards by participating in educational opportunities and Performance Improvement activities.
• Communicates with the Health Care Team.

• Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
