Job summary

DaVita in Dearborn, MI is seeking a Registered Nurse to oversee dialysis patients and deliver compassionate care during 16-hour shifts, 3 days per week with rotating weekends off.

You will supervise direct patient care, administer dialysis, monitor vitals, document care, and collaborate with a team to support patient well-being. Training is provided, with opportunities for advancement and core benefits.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred; three-year diploma may substitute.
  • ICU/CCU/ER/Med Surg experience helpful but not required.
  • CNN or CDN certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and performs direct patient care during dialysis, including vital signs and treatments.
  • Provides dialysis therapy per physician orders and ensures safety measures.
  • Analyzes patient data, documents observations, and communicates concerns to the physician.
  • Assesses patient learning needs and supports care planning with the family.

  • Schedule: 5:00am - 7:00 p.m.; 3 days per week including rotating Saturdays with Sundays off!
  • Oversee a group of 16 dialysis patients with the partnership of up to 3 fully trained PCTs

Registered Nurse Day to Day

  • 30%: Supervises and performs direct patient care including but not limited to taking and monitoring vital signs, initiation and termination of dialysis, documentation, physical assessment of patients and patient treatments, taking and transcription of physician’s orders, drawing and documentation of ordered laboratory work
  • 20%: Provides dialysis therapy, including but not limited to formulating dialysis plan per physician orders, weight and rate of ultrafiltration, verifying safety measures are in place and complied with, administering medications or other appropriate treatments, discontinuing dialysis according to established procedure, documenting all activity appropriately
  • 20%: Analyzes patient assessments, laboratory data and, when concerns are noted, brings issues to the attention of the physician. Notes signs of trauma, patients’ general physical and mental condition, reviews dialysis orders, documents observations in patient medical records. Communicates all emergencies, patient life-threatening complications and related incidents to supervisor, Medical Director, Regional Operations Director, Facility or Group Facility Administrator
  • 15%: Assesses patient and family learning readiness and provides appropriate information on renal disease, prescribed dialysis treatment, and medical regimen and its impact on the patient’s state of health and well-being. Participates in the development and implementation of the patient’s short- and long-term plan of care and monthly progress note

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nursing (A.D.N) from accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N); three-year diploma from accredited diploma program may be substituted for nursing degree
  • You might also have experience in the following that can be helpful but not required:
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Critical Care Unit (CCU), Emergency Room (ER), or Medical Surgical (Med Surg) experience
  • Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) or Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN)
