Youth Opportunity’s Brooksville Youth Academy in Brooksville, FL is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for its Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility serving adolescent males aged 13–17. The RN will provide compassionate, high-quality medical care in a 24/7 residential setting, collaborating with physicians and therapists to support holistic, individualized care.

The role requires an active Florida RN license, CPR certification, and at least 2 years of nursing experience.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted RN license in the State of Florida.
• 2+ years of professional nursing experience.
• CPR certification.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications and ensure accurate documentation.
• Triage illness and injuries each shift and determine medical priority.
• Monitor and document vital signs, medical progress, and health outcomes.
• Conduct health screenings and maintain immunization compliance.
• Educate youth and staff on health topics, including universal precautions and disease prevention.
• Provide or coordinate CPR, first aid, and other medical training for staff as required.
• Maintain controlled drug records and complete shift-to-shift medication counts.
• Monitor and replenish health/first-aid supplies, including AEDs and emergency kits.
• Participate in treatment team meetings to support interdisciplinary care planning.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and state healthcare regulations.

Location: Brooksville, FL
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $70,000 - $72,000/ year

Schedule: Weekend Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 7A-7PM.

Brooksville Youth Academy (Brooksville, FL)

Youth Opportunity’s Brooksville Youth Academy is a 72‑bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility serving adolescent males ages 13–17. The program delivers trauma‑informed mental health and substance abuse treatment in a structured therapeutic environment. Youth participate in individual, family, and group therapy, restorative justice programming, life skills development, vocational prep, and enrichment activities such as art, music, recreation, yoga, and equine therapy. Services are provided 24/7 in small group living units to support emotional stabilization and successful community reintegration. Length of stay varies based on progress toward individualized treatment goals.

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide compassionate, high-quality medical care to youth in a residential treatment environment. You will collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure each youth receives individualized, holistic care that promotes both physical and emotional well-being.

• Monitor and document vital signs, medical progress, and health outcomes
• Conduct required health screenings and maintain immunization compliance
• Educate youth and staff on health topics, including universal precautions and communicable disease prevention
• Provide or coordinate CPR, first aid, and other medical training for staff as required
• Maintain controlled drug records and complete shift-to-shift medication counts
• Monitor and replenish health/first aid supplies, including AED and emergency kits
• Participate in treatment team meetings to support interdisciplinary care planning
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and state healthcare regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

• Active and unrestricted RN license in the State of Florida

Preferred

• Experience working with youth in residential, behavioral health, or correctional settings

Physical Demands

• Must be in good physical health and emotionally stable
• Able to actively engage with youth, participate in physical interventions, and transport youth or staff as needed
• Must be free of communicable diseases as defined by the state
• Must pass evaluation of physical techniques and certification exams
