Job summary

CFG Health Systems, LLC is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to deliver comprehensive care to inmate patients in Belvidere, NJ. The RN will follow nursing assessment protocols across the full care continuum, from triage to discharge planning, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes.

The role requires evening shifts 3 pm-11:30 pm with rotating weekends, and a shift differential of $5.00.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Job Summary

Registered Nurses (RNs) deliver care to inmate patients utilizing the nursing assessment protocols in assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with established philosophy. RNs collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. RNs effectively interact with patients, while maintaining the standard of professional nursing. Corrections Nurses provide care to inmate patients to promote & improve their overall health utilizing the nursing process in triage, professional training and various resources in accordance with regulatory agencies and established guidelines. The inmate patient population generally has not had consistent access to healthcare prior to their incarceration. This provides an opportunity for nurses to see and care for an interesting variety of health concerns from minor ailments to major and atypical conditions.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform assessments of inmate patients in a variety of settings within the institution such as initial intake area, health care unit for sick, emergency situations on housing units, chronic care clinics, and medical units.
• Collaborate with primary care providers and other health care providers to ensure continuity, timeliness and appropriateness of care to inmate patients.
• Coordinate and/or administer medication, therapeutic agents, treatments to inmate patients.
• Promote culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention.
• Maintain competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of job role or practice.
• Adhere to infection control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
• Report reactions to treatments and medications, as well as changes in the inmates’ emotional or physical condition.
• Provide inmate patient education and/or discharge planning.
• Record all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
• Promote a therapeutic environment to ensure inmates are treated in a professional, ethical and tactful manner.
• Perform other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.
• Deliver individualized nursing care to inmate patients according to nursing protocols.
• Monitor and report reactions to treatments, medications, and changes in physical or emotional status.
• Assist in ongoing staff development, training, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of employment (maintain a current copy on file at all times).
• Minimum Work Experience:
  • Clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Previous experience in a correctional healthcare environment preferred.
