Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a clinically competent registered nurse for a Monday–Friday 8:30am–5pm role with no weekends observed. Rheumatology experience is preferred, and the nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for acutely ill patients while coordinating with health team members.

Responsibilities

• Performs all aspects of patient care using evidence-based practice to optimize safety and reduce errors.
• Administers medications in accordance with age and clinical condition, following the six rights.
• States rationale for clinical decisions based on critical thinking.
• Assessment, analysis, and integration of data to meet patients' physical, psychosocial, rehab, safety, learning and cultural needs.

Job description

The salary range for this position is $34.50 - $55.20 (Hourly Rate)

Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Monday - Friday position hours will be 8:30am-5pm. No weekend and off major holidays NM observes.

• A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care to the acutely ill patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice. Also responsible for phone triage, abnormal test result delivery and corresponding care instructions.

Responsibilities

• Performs all aspects of patient care by utilizing evidenced based practice in a manner which optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Follows the six medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors, administering medications based on the age and clinical condition of the patient.
• States rationale for clinical decisions based on critical thinking.
• Assessments, analyzes, validates and integrates data to assess patients' physical psychosocial, rehab, safety, learning, spiritual, cultural, age-specific, special risk and self-care needs.
