Job summary

Vail Health in Vail, CO is seeking a Registered Nurse Resident to join its Transition to Practice Program. This full-time, year-round residency offers a rotational schedule and hands-on training under a structured program guiding you from learner to independent clinician.

The role requires Colorado RN licensure or compact state, BLS certification, and a BSN/ADN from an accredited program. Competitive hourly pay for new graduates with benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates accountability for and commitment to professional nursing practice through participation in the nurse residency program.
  • Consistently meets the necessary performance expectations associated with the residency curriculum to ensure successful completion of the residency program.
  • Engages with Transition to Practice Coordinator, department leadership, educators, preceptors, co-workers, and other nurse residents to ensure effective learning and professional growth that leads to a successful transition into independent practice.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of the nursing process as it relates to patients and families.
  • Collaborates with healthcare team members, patients and their families in the provision of care.
  • Delegates to and provides direct supervision to other healthcare team members as appropriate in the implementation of the plan of care.
  • Acts as an advocate for patients and their families.
  • Practices within accepted ethical and legal parameters of nursing.
  • Delivers excellent service by utilizing Relationship-Based Care to advocate for safety, patient preferences, and optimal communication through partnering with patients and families.
  • Role models the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

The Nurse Resident under the supervision of the program coordinator and unit manager/director and in collaboration with his/her educator and preceptors will be responsible for the provision of nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with current standards of care.

What you will need:
License(s):
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado or valid compact state required
Certification(s):
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
Education:
  • Graduated with a Baccalaureate Degree or an Associate Degree from an accredited nursing program within a year prior to the time of application.
