Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care in North Carolina is seeking a Clinical Nurse to coordinate and deliver patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, you will work with an interprofessional team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

You will administer care under physician direction, maintain plan documentation, and promote safety, infection control, and professional development through ongoing training and competency assessments.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina or a compact state by the day of clinical care.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Administers patient care under the direction of a physician and collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to pursue expected patient outcomes.
• Reports and records the plan for care, nursing care given, and the patient’s response to that care.
• Provides competent clinical nursing care in line with organizational policies and procedures.
• Organizes and prioritizes care, consults with resources for complex cases, and supports discharge planning.
• Collaborates with peers in a clinical operations environment and fosters intra/interdepartmental communication.
• Synthesizes data to determine priorities for care and assesses discharge needs for patients and families.
• Communicates plan of care to patients and families with cultural competency and active listening.
• Develops clinical and operational excellence through education and training.
• Promotes a safe, clean hospital environment and adheres to infection control principles.
• Completes competency assessments annually and adheres to established policies and procedures.

Summary:

Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities:

• Administers patient care under the direction of a physician. Identifies and pursues expected patient outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Reports and records the plan for care, nursing care given, and the patient's response to that care.

• Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures.

• Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs. Consults with appropriate resources in a timely fashion regarding patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs and/or those at high risk for discharge planning.

• Collaborates with peers in a clinical operations environment, including fostering intra/interdepartmental communication.

• Synthesizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care, including appropriate physical, psychosocial, education and safety needs. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families.

• Communicates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care using cultural competency and active listening. Develops relationships with patients and their families that promote their ability to advocate for patient and family needs.

• Develops clinical and operational excellence in self and in peers through education and training.

• Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control.
• Ensures competency in all required skills and completes competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist. Adheres to documented policies and processes as well as performing other related duties as assigned.
