Job summary

Decypher is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive patient care in the Pulmonary Clinic (Lackland) and related settings, collaborating with healthcare professionals to assess, treat, educate, and coordinate referrals.

Candidates must hold a BSN, NLNAC/CCNE-accredited program, ACLS certification, an active RN license, and at least one year of experience in Cardiology, Pulmonary, or Sleep, with U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

• Education: BSN from NLNAC-accredited or CCNE-accredited program.
• Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• License: Current, active, unrestricted RN license.
• Experience: 1 year in Cardiology, Pulmonary, or Sleep within last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care with a broad healthcare team to optimize clinical outcomes and cost effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with standards of care and agency policies.
• Perform physical exams and acquire health histories.
• Provide health education and counseling to patients and families.
• Administer medications and other interventions as prescribed.
• Direct and supervise care provided by other healthcare professionals.
• Recognize and respond to emergency situations.
• Communicate with diverse teams to inform plans and educate patients and families.
• Make referral appointments and coordinate specialty care as appropriate.
• Perform nursing services identified in the TO.
• Contribute to research to support improved practice and patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Graduate from a college or university accredited by National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
• Certifications:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert
• License: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience: Must have 1 year of experience in Cardiology, Pulmonary, or Sleep in the last 5 years.

U.S. Citizenship is required

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality, and cost effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
• Perform physical exam and health histories.
• Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
• Administer medications and numerous other personalized interventions.
• Direct and supervise care provide by other healthcare professionals.
• Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
• Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans actions, for teaching education to benefit the patient family and organization.
• Make referral appointments follow-ups and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
• Perform nursing services identified in the TO.
• Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.

Work Environment & Schedule

The schedule or scheduling process is as follows:

• Shifts may be 9 or 10-hour shift which includes a 1-hour non-paid lunch each day, not to exceed 40 hours per week.
• Pulmonary Clinic (Lackland): Monday-Friday 0730 to 1630.

Physical requirements

The position requires the physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, transfer, and reposition patients throughout extended shifts while safely operating medical equipment and performing direct patient care. The RN must also have the stamina, manual dexterity, visual and auditory acuity, and ability to respond quickly to emergencies, including performing CPR and participating in rapid response and resuscitation efforts.
