Job summary

Mercy Hospital Logan County in Guthrie, OK is seeking a Registered Nurse (Non-Exempt) for the Emergency Department on a PRN, flexible hours and rotating shifts. The unit serves observation, inpatient and swing patients with a 5:1 patient-nurse ratio.

Nurses work closely with therapy to provide coordinated, high-quality care aimed at returning patients to pre-hospitalization lifestyle. Education and licensure requirements apply; ACLS and BLS certifications are required or obtained shortly after

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
• Current RN license in hiring state or compact license.
• None required; at least six months of RN/LPN experience preferred.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds and prolonged standing.

Responsibilities

• Provide Emergency Department nursing care to Observations, Inpatients and Swing patients.
• Collaborate with therapy staff to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain patient safety and facilitate return to pre-hospitalization lifestyle.

Our unit Patient/Nurse ratio is 5:1. Nursing staff work closely with the Therapy department to provide coordinated, excellent care to facilitate the highest level of return to pre-hospitalization lifestyle.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program.
• Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
• Experience: None required; at least six months of experience as an LPN or RN preferred.
• Physical requirements/demands: Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis. Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift. Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
• Required Certifications (training provided by Mercy during the orientation period if not already certified):
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
• Other unit specific certifications as required or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe.
