Salary Range: $40.00 - $40.00 Hourly

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse plays a vital role in providing comprehensive care to patients and clients across various settings. This position involves gathering critical information about a patient’s psychological, physiological, sociological, cultural, nutritional, and spiritual status, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and developing and implementing person‑centered care plans. As a PRN nurse, this role will provide professional services on an as‑needed basis and may be assigned to work across all MBI Health Services sites to meet program and consumer needs.

  • Gather information about the patient/ client’s psychological, physiological, sociological, cultural, nutritional, and spiritual status through interviews with the patient, family, case manager, and/or designated power of attorney.
  • Collaborate with a team to develop a person‑centered plan of care that includes the patient/ client, family, health care provider, case/care manager, and non‑licensed staff.
  • Develop and implement educational plans and/or goals to assist the patient/ client in achieving maximum health care benefits.
  • Promote and provide patient/ client safety through established nursing care processes, scope of service, and regulatory components, including medication storage, reconciliations, administration, and compliance monitoring.
  • Respond to and report any changes in the patient/ client’s condition in a timely manner, documenting the changes in interventions and goals within 24 hours.
  • Stay informed of state and federal regulations and compliance related to nursing practice in designated work areas (behavioral/mental health, developmental disabilities, youth services, home health care services).
  • Document nursing assessments and interventions using the established electronic health record within 24 hours of patient/ client interaction.
  • Prepare and review documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Provide follow‑up and feedback to the patient/ client regarding their health care concerns and problems.
  • Administer medication and treatments under the supervision and orders of the Physician and/or Nurse Practitioner, and document the administration immediately after rendering.
  • Provide the Physician and/or Nurse Practitioner with medical/nursing information related to patient/ client responses to medications and/or treatments, including side effects.
  • Advocate for the patient/ client through reporting and follow‑up on health care issues and concerns.
  • Assist relevant MBI departments in developing, evaluating, and revising nursing policies and procedures.
  • Care for the sick, injured, convalescent, and disabled under the direction of physicians and registered nurses.
  • Participate in all required trainings, staff and team meetings, and supervisions.
  • Maintain and facilitate HIPAA compliance and privacy laws.
  • Support MBI’s mission, vision, and value statement.
  • Perform other duties as determined by management of MBI Health Services, LLC.
Qualifications
  • Successfully completed a nursing education program from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience as a licensed nurse in the relevant area (mental/behavioral health, developmental disability, youth/adolescent services, working with the elderly, and/or home care experience).
  • Ability to function in a correctional environment.
  • Valid and up‑to‑date CPR card.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Electronic health records experience (preferred).
  • Current license or eligibility for RN licensure in DC.
