CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Registered Nurse at Penrose-St. Francis Health Services in Colorado Springs. The role emphasizes patient assessment, care planning, and collaboration with the healthcare team to meet physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, while promoting safe, evidence-based nursing care.

Qualifications include an Acute care RN license in Colorado, an associate degree in nursing, and strong communication skills. Prior preop/PACU/ICU or procedural experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required.
  • RN license in state of employment required.
  • Physical requirements: Medium work, lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and 20 lbs frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
  • Evaluate patient response and intervene to optimize outcomes.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with the team.
  • Administer medications, IVs, wound care, catheters, and specimen collection.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential patient records and documentation.
  • Communicate using IT to support care decisions and safety.
  • Provide patient/family education and teaching effectiveness.

  • Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records & clinical data.

  • Evaluates patient’s response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcome.

  • Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

  • Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including, but not limited to, IV’s, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.

  • Thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records.

  • Document ongoing status, interventions, patient response and outcomes in an accurate, timely manner.

  • Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision‑making.

  • Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health and safety and rights of each patient.

  • Provide patient/family education through assessment of patient/family learning readiness, needs, and ability.

  • Provide teaching and evaluate effectiveness of teaching.

** Previous Preop/PACU/ICU/Procedural experience highly preferred**

Day to Day duties:
  • Patient education

  • Health assessment and physical exam

  • Clinical prep, like starting iv and administering pre op medications

  • Verifying preoperative documentation

  • Coordinating safety hand offs

  • Approx 40 cases per day

  • Weeknight and weekend call requirement

Phase I & II recovered in same areas

Schedule- 36hrs/ week- Days- 4x 9hr shifts- Variable start times and Days of the week per surgical volume and current unit needs. TBD during interviews with OR Manager.

Call required – weeknights/ weekends and Holidays – Approx. 2-4 weeknights and 1 weekend in a 8 week schedule.

Pay Range

$33.15 – $59.67 /hour
