Job summary

CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi - Shoreline is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join its acute care team. In this role you will provide routine and complex nursing care, applying the nursing process to plan, intervene and evaluate patient care in a high-volume setting.

You will administer medications, document patient histories and teach families, while meeting hospital standards and collaborating with physicians, nurses and support staff on a 4-day, 10-hour schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.
• Experience: 1 year in related nursing specialty preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications: RN license; BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Administers medications and treatments; monitors for side-effects and effectiveness.
• Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Educates patients, families and/or caregivers about learning needs and resources.
• Collaborates with care team to plan and adjust care as needed.

Summary

The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.
