Job summary

Baptist Health Care in Pensacola, FL seeks an Registered Nurse for Pre-Post perioperative care in an ambulatory surgery setting. The role covers evaluation, plan of care and collaboration with surgeons and anesthesia staff.

PRN position requires flexibility for day shifts within the surgical services team. The ideal candidate holds a Nursing degree with 1-3 years of acute care experience and holds or will obtain Florida RN licensure, BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications within specified timelines.

Qualifications

  • Technical Diploma/Certificate Nursing or Associates Degree Nursing Required.
  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred.
  • 1-3 years Acute Care RN experience, preferably in Critical Care or PACU Required.
  • Licenses: Florida RN or compact state Upon Hire Required.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required upon hire within 6 months if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care.
  • Develops and communicates a plan of care with patient/family to address needs.
  • Implements medical plan of care and nursing interventions as necessary.
  • Evaluates care and patient responses to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Maintains accurate documentation for health care team.
  • Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure.
  • Ensures department supplies and equipment are managed.
  • Collaborates with surgical team and other departments as needed.
  • May be required to stay on campus before, during, and after severe weather or disasters.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse manages individualized, goal directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. This position provides care and education for the patient based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. This position is responsible for the delivery of quality care in designated areas of surgical services while meeting standards as set forth by the state, regulatory agencies, and facility policies and procedures. This position performs technical skills and provides assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and other professionals in the facility. This position maintains knowledge and skills required to perform as a professional registered nurse as well as those specific surgical services departments. This position promotes teamwork with all surgical team members and other departments. This position manages supplies and equipment effectively.

Responsibilities

Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs in order to provide quality care to assigned patients.

Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic problem list (plan of care) for each patient in collaboration with

each patient/family/significant other to address all identified needs.

Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.

Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient’s responses are reassessed in order to meet patient and family needs to ensure overall quality of care delivered.

Maintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the health care team, to ensure quality care.

Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure.

Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the department as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed.

Maintains supplies/inventory for department.

Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization.

May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications

Technical Diploma/Certificate Nursing or Associates Degree Nursing Required. Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred.

1-3 years Acute Care RN experience, preferably in Critical Care or PACU Required.


Licenses and Certifications

Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state Upon Hire Required.

BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required.

ACLS Provider (ACLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required.

PALS Provider (PALS) American Heart Association within 6 Months Required.


Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge and skills. (High proficiency)

Critical thinking skills with the ability to adapt to changes in patient status, department workload. (High proficiency)
