Job summary

Paycom - ATS is seeking an Registered Nurse to support dermatology and surgical services. You will assist licensed providers in multiple settings, prepare rooms, monitor vitals, document patient information, and help with perioperative care and discharge instructions.

You will work under physician direction, maintain aseptic technique, and support safe, compassionate patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Dermatology and surgical procedure experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of sterile technique and aseptic procedures.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Excellent communication in English with patients and team.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients to obtain information and measure vital signs.
  • Prepare examination, procedure, and operative rooms for physician.
  • Administer medications as directed and document in medical records.
  • Record medical history, allergies, medications, and tests in records.
  • Assist surgeon during procedures and maintain sterile field.
  • Discharge instructions in writing and verbally to patients.

SECTION 1: Job Summary (Summary of the basic functions of the position)The Registered Nurse is to provide assistance to the licensed-medical provider in multiple settings including the surgical settings. (Those not in a surgical seThey are to provide safe, knowledgeable, compassionate individualized care to all patients. Responsible for the following, based on the needs of the organization:SECTION 2: Duties and Responsibilities (Responsibilities necessary to accomplish job functions)Serve as a patient advocate during patient exam and treatmentInterview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.Show patients to examination rooms, procedure rooms or operative rooms and prepare them for the physician.Record patients' medical history, medications, allergies, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records.Ensure proper consent forms are obtained prior to preparing a patient for treatmentPrepare and administer medications as directed by a physician following safety protocol of right dose, right patient, right route, right drug and noting expiration dateCollect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.Explain all perioperative procedures and provide discharge instructions both verbally and in writing.Prepares the room and patient for surgery. Administers local anesthesia, preps and drapes the patient. Assists the surgeon with surgical instruments and supplies and maintains aseptic technique during sterile procedures.Under surgeon direction, provides prescription information to patient’s preferred pharmacy.Inspects sterile items prior to opening and lay supplies out on sterile field in an organized mannerAssist physician with surgical procedure while maintaining sterile field.Performs suture removals and assess post op surgical wounds.Assess the patient ’s condition throughout the exam, procedure or surgery according to the facility’s policies and notify physician of any indication of distressResponsible for cleaning room and medical equipment in between each patient and at the end of the day.Correctly disposes of infection waste and biohazard materialsSchedule appointments for patientsChange dressings on wounds.Greet patients arriving to surgery center.Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests and/or admission.Inventory and assess the need for instruments, supplies and equipment while keeping the room stockedPerforms accurate documentation of all procedures in a timely mannerResponds to emergency situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol by having knowledge of equipment and supplies and is familiar with their locationAssist physicians in patient, employee, or visitor medical emergencies and ensure proper documentation per facility’s policy.Inventory and order medical emergency supplies monthly and ensure all equipment is in proper working order.Adheres to all policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service.Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization.SECTION 3: Experience RequirementsOne (1) year of dermatology experience, does not have to have experienceOne (1) year of surgical procedures experience, no experience required.SECTION 4: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities RequirementsSkills in operating complicated surgical equipment and instruments.Knowledge of Licdocaine toxicity and aware of what to do in emergency situations with medication administration.Knowledgeable in the care and handling of surgical instruments and the operation and testing of sterile processing equipment such as autoclaves and sonic cleaners.Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and sterile technique, required.Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliableManagement and organizational skills to support the leadership of this functionAbility to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretationsInterpersonal skills to support customer service, functional, and team mate support needsAble to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writingMathematical and/or analytical ability for basic to intermediate problem solvingBasic to intermediate computer operationProficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and OutlookSpecialty knowledge of systems relating to job functionKnowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA and AAAHC guidelinesComplete a minimum of five hours of CEU’s in infection control continuing education pertaining to surgical services on an annual basis.If documented competency completed in suturing, assists surgeon during surgical repair.SECTION 5: Supervisory Responsibilities:This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
