Overview

For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors. The RN maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise. This role demonstrates core and specific competencies based on care required for the pre/post operative patient population served for the Specialty Surgeons of Connecticut Practice. The RN will be scheduled on an hourly basis determined by the provided schedule, patient visits and follow-up care required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates a plan of care for patients and families for pre- and post-operative visits.
• Documents and demonstrates teaching/learning needs of patients and families for pre- and post-operative visits.
• Documentation reflects systematic and continuous collection of data.
• Documents all relevant case and patient information in EMR.
• Utilizes knowledge of nursing, research and evidence-based practice in the application of care and clinical judgment.
• Responds appropriately to urgent/emergent situations.
• Administers medication according to the medication administration policy.
• Integrates the standards of excellence into daily clinical practice.
• Ensure compliance with written policies, procedures and standards of practice/care.
• Maintains licensure and current registration.
• Maintains mandatory certification, and competency, including but not limited to annual review, BLS, etc.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing required.
• BS in Nursing Preferred.
• Registered Professional Nurse New York State License and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State as an RN Upon Hire Required.
• At least 2 years of RN experience in the Emergency Department experience required.
• Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval systems (Medium proficiency).
• Effective English communication skills, both written and oral (Medium proficiency).
• OHS Fit Test Required.
• OHS Annual Assessment Required.
• Certification in specialty Upon Hire Preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Training Upon Hire Required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Training Upon Hire Required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Training Upon Hire Required.
• Infection Control & Barrier Precaution Training Upon Hire Required.
