Job Description

Atlantic Visiting Nurse, part of Atlantic Health System, is seeking a per diem Registered Nurse to work Monday - Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM in the Sussex / Warren County area, including weekends and on-call as required by the department. In this position, you will work with adult and geriatric patients of all backgrounds requiring intermittent skilled short-term care in their homes. Compassion, thoughtfulness, and comfort working with elderly and terminally ill patients are essential. You will manage a heavy caseload; strong time management skills are necessary to provide each patient with the necessary attention to meet their needs.

Entry-level offers start at $43.00/hour, increasing based on experience. Mileage reimbursement ($.67 per mile) is included.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Perform physical assessments, provide MD-ordered treatments, and conduct extensive patient education, maintaining frequent communication with healthcare providers.
  2. Utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Collaborate with the healthcare team within the Shared Governance model, focusing on evidence-based care and a healing culture for patients and families.
  3. Demonstrate and embrace the PRIDE core values: Professionalism, Respect, Involvement, Dignity, and Excellence in all job aspects.
  4. Conduct evaluation tasks, including vital signs and medication reviews.
  5. Administer medications as prescribed by physicians.
  6. Dress or undress wounds and assess healing progress.
  7. Educate patients and families on home health care strategies and procedures.
  8. Coordinate care with Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Physicians, and other team members involved in the patient’s care plan.
  9. Provide palliative care to ensure patient comfort.
  10. Recommend devices or tools to improve quality of life.
  11. Listen to patient concerns and respond appropriately.
Education:

Graduate from an accredited RN program; BSN preferred.

Required License:

Valid New Jersey RN License.

Certifications:

BLS certification is required.

Related Experience:
  • At least 1-2 years of acute care experience.
  • Home care experience is helpful.
  • Wound care and IV experience are a plus.
