Job summary

Cooper University Health Care in South Jersey seeks a Registered Nurse specialized in pediatrics to join our multidisciplinary team. The RN will oversee care for pediatric patients aged 0-18, follow nursing process, and collaborate with physicians, therapists and family members to deliver safe, patient-centered care.

Requirements include 1 year of pediatric RN experience, NLN-accredited nursing program, NJ-RN license and NJ-BLS; CNOR preferred in some specialties.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of RN pediatrics experience preferred.
  • Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current NJ-RN license; NJ-BLS certification; CNOR preferred; ACLS/NALS/PALS may be required for some specialties.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to pediatric patients aged 0–18 within a multidisciplinary health care team.
  • Follow nursing process and collaborate with physicians, therapists, and families to deliver patient-centered care.

Short Description

The Registered RN is a professional care-giver who, as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and who supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self. Follows established policies and procedures. Communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors. Provides excellent customer service interfacing well with all levels of staff, management and physicians. Applies Cooper core values. Other duties as required.

Overview

The Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper University Hospital is a pediatric facility that consists of several units that meet the diverse needs of pediatric patients: Pediatric unit, Pediatric Intermediate unit (PIMU), Pediatric Kostic Infusion Room (PKIR), and Pediatric Intensive Care unit (PICU). We provide care for pediatric patients aged 0 to 18 years. We offer subspecialty services through consultation and referral in areas such as Endocrinology, Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, Otolaryngology, Pediatric Surgery, Trauma, and Hematology. The Family-centered rounds are conducted daily with an interdisciplinary care team including physicians, professional nursing services, child life specialists, social services, and nutrition support. All our pediatric units are secured with restricted access for staff, with visitors gaining entry via monitored access. All pediatric patients wear security tags to assure their safety. Our facilities include a teen room, a spacious playroom for younger patients, and a family waiting room. Our Pediatric unit and PIMU have 38-bed capacity. The Pediatric unit is in Kellemen building on South 7th and offers 26 beds.

Experience Required

1 year of RN pediatrics experience is preferred.

Education Requirements

Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing.

License/Certification Requirements
  • Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse).
  • Current NJ-BLS Certification (Basic Life Support).
  • Current NJ-CNOR (Certified Nurse, Operating Room) preferred.
  • Certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e. ACLS, NALS, PALS).
Special Requirements

Full time, 7am-7pm, holidays and weekends required.
